Neil Hutchinson

B.A. (Hons), Dip. ARCH, RIBA, BIA, RA

Neil is the Managing Director and a chartered architect registered in Barbados and the U.K with more than 25 years experience in the profession. His experience encompasses the design, detailing, project management and implementation of projects in the United Kingdom, Barbados and the wider Caribbean. He holds a B.A. with honours in Architecture (1995), a Post-graduate Diploma in Architecture (1998) with distinction in the Thesis (Titled - The Role of Plants in the Urban Environment) and a Post-graduate Diploma in Landscape Design (1998) all from the University of Plymouth, U.K.

Neil is a Barbadian and one of the founding directors of Studio Blue Architects. He has been responsible for the design of a wide cross section of projects in the luxury residential, commercial, industrial and institutional sectors. As Managing director he provides design advice and general oversight of all projects completed by the firm. Since 2003 he has been actively involved in promoting architecture and sustainable design and has been invited to present on this topic on a number of occasions. He has also served as a guest tutor and critic for the Associate Degree in Architecture at the Barbados Community College. In 2005 he received The Pierce Tappin Award for Best Amateur Photograph at the National Independence Festival of Creative Arts (NIFCA) in Barbados, for his submission “Radiation”. He is a Life Member of the Barbados National Trust, a member of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) and a member of the Barbados Institute of Architects (BIA) where he served as the President, Vice President & Secretary.

Polyana Bayley

Dip. Arch Tech

Polyana is a Director & Senior Registered Technician / Designer with more than 41 years experience in the industry. Her experience encompasses the design, detailing, project management and implementation of projects in Barbados and the wider Caribbean. She was born and raised in Venezuela and was awarded a Diploma in Architectural Technology by the Instituto I.F.A.P, Valencia, Venezuela in 1982. Later that year, she moved to Barbados where she has worked with a number of architectural practices before founding Studio Blue Architects with the other directors in 2002. She has been responsible for the design and project management of over 40 private residences ranging in value from $200,000 to Bds$2.5 Million. Other projects include works to listed buildings, apartments, offices, schools, restaurants and industrial complexes. Her responsibilities as a Director include the Accounts and Financial Management of the company. Polyana is fluent in both English & Spanish and is a Life Member of the Barbados National Trust.

Bradley Thompson

B.A. (Hons), ABIA

Bradley is a Barbadian architect–in-training with 11 years experience in the profession. His experience encompasses the design, detailing, project management and implementation of projects in Barbados and Trinidad. He has completed an Associate Degree in Architecture (2009) at the Barbados Community College and Certificates in Construction Supervision & Building Management at the Samuel Jackman Prescod Polytechnic (2010). He was awarded a Barbados Institute of Architects’ University Scholarship in 2010 and went on to complete a B.A. in Architecture with First Class Honours (2013) from the Caribbean School of Architecture, University of Technology, Jamaica. While at university he achieved a number of awards including the Deans Award (2012), the Dean’s List Award (2013), the Lascelles Dixon Award (2013), a special commendation for his design submission to the 5th Biennial Jamaica Diaspora Conference (2013) and the highest GPA in year 4 (2014). Bradley joined us in 2016 and has been responsible for the delivery of a wide cross section of projects including warehouses, office fit-outs, residential and a chain of car dealerships. Bradley is currently an Associate member of the Barbados Institute of Architects and served on the Executive council between 2013-2019.

Everard Taylor

Reg. Technician

Everard is a senior Architectural Technician with 38 years experience in the profession. His experience encompasses the design, detailing and implementation of a wide selection of projects across Barbados including private homes, high rise condominiums, retail & commercial buildings and large land sub-divisions. He is a Barbadian and a registered Technician who has completed Certificates in Building Drawing and Orthographic & Pictorial Representations at the Samuel Jackman Prescod Polytechnic (1985). In 2017, he joined our studio and his responsibilities include preparing measured surveys, planning applications, detailed production information, construction documentation and site inspections. Everard has worked for a number of established Architectural practices over the years and brings a wealth of experience to the company.
